Maritime, Coastal Land Use, Real Estate and General Practice of Law Serving the Island.

I was admitted to practice in Maine in 1990, and ran a solo practice in Brunswick for
10 years doing street level litigation in criminal, child protective and domestic cases.
Then it was on to the Maine Departments of Corrections and Human Services where I worked
in human resources dealing with employment civil rights issues under the Maine Human
Rights Act, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Since moving to Matinicus, I've become inspired to return to the law, possibly because
of the break of several years, as well as the immediacy and relevance of the law to life
and work in a fishing community. I'm developing a practice in marine resources and
fisheries issues, and land use matters of concern to working waterfronts and our small
island community. Recent cases included multi-party litigation in federal court over
fishing rights, partnering with Chris MacLean, Esq. of Camden to fight the shutdown of
Matinicus lobstering grounds in 2009 and permitting issues in Matinicus Harbor.
